Youth mental health has become an ever-increasing problem. The overwhelming pressure to figure out their future, get into the best colleges, and excel academically, in sports or other extra-curricular activities, has brought on tremendous stress among our youth. Add to that the concerns brought on by peer pressure, COVID, and school shootings, it’s no wonder we are seeing an alarming rise in anxiety and depression among teens. Mental health is just as important as physical health. If left untreated, mental health problems can lead to lifelong repercussions.

Many adolescents struggle with significant feelings of isolation, not feeling heard, and so much more. Some areas I specialize in include:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Peer Pressure

  • Self-Esteem

Learning critical skills will help teens manage their stress and learn how to cope with situations that create undue pressures. Some areas of focus for counseling include:

  • Stress Management

  • Emotion Regulation

  • Developing Healthy Boundaries

In addition, teens face so many crucial situations that add continued stress to their everyday lives, such as:

  • Social Anxiety

  • Academic Pressure

  • Coping Skills

  • Bullying

Teens are not immune to the same struggles facing adults. They experience similar issues and need someone who can relate to them on their level. I specialize in working with:

  • Trauma

  • Grief / Loss

  • ADHD

The idea of sharing your most intimate thoughts can be scary for most of us, but for a teenager, it can be extremely awkward and uncomfortable. Finding a therapist your child feels safe with is vital to therapeutic growth and healing. I have a passion for working with teens and my 20+ years as an educator gives me an advantage in understanding their struggles. If you think I might be a good fit for your teen, click below to schedule an appointment. I look forward to walking alongside them on their journey to healing.

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.
